How each one adjusts your training

Both apps check your readiness, adjust your sets from how hard they felt, and check in after each session. The difference is how they get there.

Juggernaut AI: you answer, it adjusts

You start with a questionnaire: your experience, your strength, your sticking points, your recovery and your lifestyle. You pick a Powerlifting focus, built around squat, bench and deadlift, or Powerbuilding, which balances bodybuilding and strength. Training runs 2 to 6 days a week.

Before each session the app asks about your readiness: sleep, mood, energy and soreness. On the main lifts, the RPE you enter adjusts your weights and volume from set to set. Accessories use reps in reserve. After each session, week and block you check in again, and the program adjusts its volume, and later its next phase, from what you report.

Aldo Coach: it reads the signals, then coaches every set

You answer setup questions once: how you train, your experience, days per week, injuries, equipment, goals and recent numbers. Claude then writes a program of up to 16 weeks toward your goal, with a theme for each week, planned around your real schedule.

Before it builds a session, the coach checks your readiness on its own. It looks at how long since your last workout, how your last session went, how recently each muscle group was trained, heavy work coming up and any active injury. Connect Apple Health and it also sees your sleep, HRV and resting heart rate against your own 4-week norm. Or just tell it you're beat up today.

In the session, you log each set with how many reps you had left, or RPE. The coach can change the weight, reps or rest for the sets left, add or skip a set, and writes why, right under the set. After the session you rate it. The coach says no change is needed, or suggests a program change you accept or skip. Each week you get a review with recommendations for next week.

What Juggernaut AI does well

A coaching brand behind it. Juggernaut Training Systems has been a source of strength coaching since 2009. Its head coach is Chad Wesley Smith, who founded it.

A Meet Day Advisor. A built-in tool that works out your meet attempts from your training.

Technique videos in the app. Over 300 of them.

Coaches and a community. A weekly video Q&A with Juggernaut coaches, and a community of lifters and coaches.

Block check-ins and Android. It checks in at the end of each training block, and it has an Android app.

What Aldo Coach does

The coach takes action. Tell it to swap a lift mid-workout, or that you're away next week, and it changes your session or your plan itself. You tap to accept.

It syncs your calendar. Connect Apple Calendar or Google Calendar and a work trip, a late shift or a busy week becomes part of the plan instead of the reason you fell off it.

Any exercise, just ask. Ask the coach for any movement your gym or your program uses. Each exercise keeps its own history and PRs.

It remembers your injuries. Aldo Coach keeps every injury you tell it about and works around it when it plans your sessions.

It's tailored to any goal. Powerlifting, bodybuilding, CrossFit, or staying healthy. Conditioning is part of the plan too: EMOMs, AMRAPs and circuits run on their own timer.

For the platform and the gym floor

  • Warm-ups written for you. The coach writes a warm-up for each session, around your injuries and limits.
  • Last time's numbers on every set. Your previous weight and reps sit right on the set you're about to do.
  • Estimated max, PRs and charts. An estimated max that accounts for RPE, automatic PRs including rep-max PRs, and a chart for every exercise.
  • A rest timer that starts itself. It starts when you log a set and shows on your lock screen and your Apple Watch.
  • Bring your old log. Import a CSV, spreadsheet, PDF or photo into a program, a workout or your history. It reads Strong's export.
  • Talk instead of type. Voice input and voice commands.
Why I built Aldo Coach · Jack

I've lifted since I was 14 and have competed in powerlifting, and I've trained with Juggernaut AI. It's a program built by people who know the sport.

What I needed was a coach that knows my week. I work shifts, including 12.5-hour nights. On those days I shouldn't be doing a high-intensity session, so my training has to know my calendar, and I want to change the plan by just saying what's going on. So I built a coach that does that.

  • You want a native Android app.

Pick Aldo Coach if

  • Your week changes: shifts, travel, kids, a busy stretch at work.
  • You want readiness read for you, from your training and Apple Health.
  • You want to change your plan by telling the coach, and tap to accept.
  • You train more than the big three: bodybuilding, CrossFit-style conditioning, or just staying fit.
  • You want to log from an Apple Watch, or bring your old log with you.

The limits: Aldo Coach doesn't track food. It's in English only. The App Store app covers the US, Canada, the UK, the EU, Iceland and Norway; anywhere else, it runs in your browser.

Questions

Is Aldo Coach a good Juggernaut AI alternative?

It is if you want a coach that reads your readiness for you, plans your weeks around your calendar, coaches every set and changes your plan when you ask, for powerlifting or any other goal. If you want Juggernaut Training Systems' coaches, technique videos in the app, an attempt calculator or an Android app, Juggernaut AI suits you better.

How much does Juggernaut AI cost?

Juggernaut AI's website lists $34.99 a month or $349.99 a year, with a 2-week free trial. Check its website or App Store page for current prices.

Is Juggernaut AI only for powerlifters?

No. You pick a Powerlifting focus, built around squat, bench and deadlift, or a Powerbuilding focus that balances bodybuilding and strength. Juggernaut says it suits lifters of all levels, and recommends you have done the squat, bench press and deadlift before.

Do both apps adjust to readiness and RPE?

Yes, in different ways. Juggernaut AI asks readiness questions before each session, and the RPE you enter on main lifts adjusts your weights and volume set to set. Aldo Coach reads readiness on its own from your recent training, how fresh each muscle group is and your injuries, plus sleep, HRV and resting heart rate if you connect Apple Health. You log reps in reserve or RPE on each set, and the coach adjusts the sets left and writes why.

Is Aldo Coach free?

Yes, right now, with nothing for sale in the app. Every set you log goes to Claude, which costs money per user, so paid tiers will come later.

What AI does Aldo Coach use?

The coach is Claude, made by Anthropic. Claude Opus writes your program and Claude Sonnet coaches you set by set.

Aldo Coach is a training tool, not medical advice. Read the Health & Safety Notice and Waiver before you train with it.
